When the school gets over on ninth of May
The children get tanned by the sun's direct ray
They gobble an ice cream on their way
And yell and shout out "It's holiday"
The annual reports will be given afterwards
The children are happy like small, free birds
They wake-up, sleep, eat and play
And do the holiday homework with clay.
Children do creative work and are happy
Some learn swimming, some adopt puppy
Gradually the holidays come to an end
The schools of the city are all reopened.
When the teacher asked for the homework
Everyone,except one, showed their work.
But that boy at the left, back corner seat,
With a mole in his chin and dress very neat,
Could not submit a masterpiece art,
And submitted a bin to get rid of dirt.
Students laughed and the teacher annoyed
"Thirty days off but your work is silly&void."
The boy's reply was funny indeed,
The strict teacher did not pay any heed.
How can a small boy putting on gloves
Clear the streets of the city he loves.
With his sister, he fills up bins
Polythene, wrappers and napkins.
Collects reusable items, tattered and old,
From his friends and the city's household
And give it to his mother to recycle it,
And this will lead to the city looking neat.
The teacher did not believe the boy
Thought it as a prank to make him annoy.
Kicking him out, as the teacher starts to snore,
The boy thinks over to clean the city more.
